Home › Tie-Downs & Anchoring

Anchors and tie-down straps keep a manufactured home on its piers in high winds. East Texas gets strong storms and tornadoes, so anchoring isn't optional. Texas installation standards require it.

When to replace anchors

  1. Straps are rusted, loose or missing.
  2. The home was re-leveled or moved.
  3. Anchors have pulled up in soft or wet soil.
  4. You need an inspection for insurance or a sale.

What a crew does

They inspect the existing ground anchors and straps, drive new anchors suited to the soil, and tension the straps to the frame (and over the roof on some older homes). Ask that the work follows TDHCA installation standards and the home manufacturer's instructions.
